Kristofferson to Receive Cash Award

kk.jpg Kris Kristofferson will be honored by CMT as one of country music’s greatest living songwriters.

Kristofferson, a Rhodes Scholar and a famed “outlaw” is this year’s recipient of CMT’s Johnny Cash Visionary Award. The award, which recognizes musical vision and pioneering entertainment initiatives, will be presented by Cash’s daughter, Rosanne. Johnny Cash was a mentor and close friend to Kristofferson for many years.

At 70 years old, the Country Music Hall of Famer is considered one of country’s greatest songwriters for penning classics such as Sunday Morning Coming Down, Me and Bobby McGee and Why Me.

Kristofferson will receive the award at the 2007 CMT Music Awards in Nashville, April 16th.
