Dolly to Receive Mercer Award…

dolly-parton-01.jpg Dolly Parton is this year’s recipient of the prestigious Johnny Mercer Award for the 2007 Songwriters Hall of Fame event.

The Johnny Mercer Award is reserved for a songwriter who has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and whose body of work is of such high quality and impact, that it upholds the gold standard set by the legendary Johnny Mercer.

Past Johnny Mercer Award recipients have included: Kris Kristofferson, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel and a list of talented others.

Inductees at this year’s event include Don Black, Jackson Browne, Irving Burgie, Michael Masser, Bobby Weinstein and Teddy Randazzo (posthumous). More honorees will be announced.

Dolly is a true music pioneer and one of my favorite legends. Her hits include “I Will Always Love You,” “Here You Come Again” and “Why’d You Come in Here Lookin’ Like That.”

Dolly will be honored at the 2007 Awards dinner, June 7th in New York.
