12th & Porter Closed~

12thporter-004.jpgEarly Tuesday morning Nashville’s 12th & Porter was closed. The music venue was seized by the State Department of Revenue for nonpayment of state taxes.

The club has housed several famous musicians recently: Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver), Kix Brooks and Kenny Loggins, to name a few.

Employees tell us they knew it was coming, but they were not warned before arriving at work today. The signs were posted on the front door at 8:30 this morning.

Jennifer Lee, the club owner, tells us she is looking for an investor to help bail them out of debt. She added that there has been an outpour of support. Jennifer took over the club two years ago next week.

She says owners have been making payments, but it apparently wasn’t enough. Jennifer declined to say how much money is owed.

Meantime- tonight’s show “Billy Block’s Western Beat” will be held at Cadillac Ranch on Lower Broadway.
