Doolittle’s Da Bomb~

mdcover.jpg Yes, I stole that headline off one of the signs that welcomed American Idol finalist Melinda Doolittle back to Music City Friday. Tomorrow the Brentwood resident will sing three songs on the show- one she selects, as well as one each chosen by a judge and the show’s producer. Idol judge Randy Jackson chose Whitney Houston‘s I Believe in You and Me, for her to sing.
Several thousands of fans, including her mom and dad, cheered on Melinda as she visited Belmont Friday, some arrived as early as 6 in the morning. Tears rolled down her face as she rolled in a white Mustang convertible. Melinda was once Belmont’s mascot, which means yes she wore a Bruins bear costume! How awesome is that?

The cameras followed Melinda around as she spent the day in town. Among their stops- Swett’s restaurant and a visit to the state Capitol with Gov. Phil Bredesen. The footage will air on Tuesday’s American Idol show.
