Art, Music, Poems and Sheg!

Music, fashion and art joined forces in an effort to fight cancer last Saturday night. Fusion 08 pulled in a great crowd this year at City Hall and I had the honor of hosting. Olussegun “Sheg” (pictured) from Oprah‘s The Big Give made a guest appearance.

The event featured over 80 visual and musical artists. Among those that performed- Dabney Morris, poet Derrick Brown (pictured), songstress Brooke Waggoner and rocker Jeremy Lister (pictured).

Hana Hattori (pictured), Carlos Banola (pictured) and Alain Patterson featured their latest fashion designs, while local students competed for next years “Runway Fusion” star. Designer to the stars- Manuel (pictured) and Billy Gemmill (pictured) of Black Flag Militia Group were among the judges.

For the fourth year in a row, Fusion benefited the Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation’s Young Adult Cancer Survivor Retreats. Also pictured- Rodney Cearley board president of Young Professionals of Nashville.

For those who stuck around I did a little hooping to plug Hooping for Hope. A foundation offering free hula classes at Hooprama for cancer survivors.

The pretty photos (without my stamp) were taken by Aaron Crisler/The Judy Nelon Group. He rocks!
