fooBar & frolicking along

News 2′s Scott Fralick and his lovely wife Amy AKA The Frolics are leaving town for Canada. Scott got a big time Network gig. Before they headed out the cute couple played their last show at fooBar on the East side and that’s where I fell in love… with the venue.

I can’t believe I have never been to this little dive before and apparently it recently tripled in size. Yes it is still small and dark, but it has such charm. The expansion includes a game room with pool, shuffleboard, old-school arcade games, and darts. We all know I love darts. Editing/photog whiz Armondo and I partnered up to play some other News 2 folks. We lost one game and he had to wear my heels, tee-hee.

The Frolics, dressed in shiny getups, rocked the house with songs like the Ballad of Eazy E and Go Ahead and Call the Cops. Afterward a DJ tore up the turntables. The dance music was a nice surprise, considering the punk rock/rockabilly feeling of the crowd.

If this place weren’t on Gallatin Road, I’d probably be there every night. Then again, if it weren’t there, it probably wouldn’t be the same cool vibe.
