Mile 8 on 8-8-08

My pals from Mile 8 put together a reunion show at the new (to me anyway) location of Windows of the Cumberland in celebration of 8-8-08. The show ended up turning into a fundraiser after our friend Jason Thomas (pictured) dived off a boat into a sandbar. He broke several vertebrae and is lucky to be moving around.

It was a good time in the small room without windows that look over the Cumberland. Johnny Neal of Gov’t Mule and Allman Brothers fame played keys for a few songs and Robert Knowles gave the crowd a treat with his rendition of Digital Underground’s The Humpty Dance.

In my quest to check out spots out of my normal routine, I swung by Sambuca. It was a nice treat to see Skelly & Brandon Young behind the bar. I even had the pleasure of meeting Shaun Bertrand’s sweet mom. We had nice conversations chilling on the upstairs deck overlooking Nashville.
