Tomato heads unite in East Nashville

Ripe, red, juicy tomatoes took center stage in East Nashville over the weekend at the Fifth Annual Tomato Art Festival. Thousands of tomato heads came out for the festivities that featured music, contests, art, fashion and food in Five Points.

The Tomato King & Queen were crowned Friday night, there was a Parade, a 5K, and an Ugliest, Biggest, and Littlest Tomato Contest (pictured). There were paper mache tomato heads, a gal with a push-pin tomato bra, tomato family wrapped in vine and a slew of other righteously red get-ups. Some folks gave their best at hula hooping, while others lined the street for a taste of I Dream of Weenie’s wieners.

All tomater heads were celebrating the Fest’s motto-  ”The Tomato…A uniter not a divider…bringing together fruits and vegetables.”
