Fancy Footwork at Street Style Competition!

There was more than fancy footwork as the U.S. Finals for Red Bull Street Style took over the rooftop of the ICON here in Music City. The event was relocated following the aftermath of hurricane Ike.

The freestyle soccer competition was like none I has seen before. Contestants freestyle juggled a soccer ball while simultaneously performing moves. It was breakdancing meets hip-hop with a ball- some did handstands, while others showed off their balancing skills. There was one ball, two players, and three minutes to wow the judges. Nashville breakdancers kept the crowd in awe during breaks.

Our judges (pictured) were Predator Charles Morrow, Lipscomb’s Soccer Coach Earle Davidson, Belmont’s coach Steve “Eli Freeze” Elias and Kelly Sutton from Fox’s Tennessee Mornings.

We had one competitor form Nashville who made it to the finals, but he was beat out by Doug Fitzgerald of Chicago. Check out that trophy! Doug will represent the U.S. in the World Finals in Brazil this November.
