BMI Awards honor those behind the song while pulling in A-listers- Nicole, Miley, Tim & Faith, Kid Rock & more~

Tuesday night I worked the 56th Annual BMI Country Awards for BMI. The event celebrated the elite of the performing right organization’s Music Row offices in Nashville. The black-tie ceremony toasted the writers and publishers of the past year’s 50 most-performed country songs from BMI.

Casey Beathard earned his second BMI Country Songwriter of the Year award, while Taylor Swift’s “Teardrops on My Guitar” garnered Song of the Year. An all star tribute recognized Hank Williams, Jr. as a BMI Icon, with performances by Robert Randolph (“Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound”), Gregg Allman /strong> (“Come and Go Blues”), Kenny Chesney (“Old Habits”) & Lynyrd Skynryd.
