Mai: New spot in the Gulch

Nashville’s new upscale nightspot, Mai, opened its doors on New Years Eve. Mai took over the old Lot 7 spot in The Gulch. It still looks very similar, with some fine-tuning of the decor. Including the bar top, which looks ink splattered and moves when pressed on and there is now running water on the wall behind the bartenders. The best addition is the VIP spot upstairs, which never opened during Lot 7′s tenure. The VIP provides a more intimate hang that overlooks the dance floor and offers up a private bar. Nashville Broncs owner Scott Lumley (pictured) was among those in the VIP Friday.

These pics were taken Friday night. It was a slow night, but the weekend after New Years Eve usually is. My pals came out to toast in my 30th birthday at midnight.

Mindub (pictured) provided tunes in the DJ booth that’s suspended high above the bar. Co-owner Doug Green is also pictured. You need to know if you go that the dress code is strictly enforced.
