2nd Annual Muddy Roots Music Festival brings top notch talent~

The second annual Muddy Roots Music Festival is back and better than ever! The queen of rockabilly, Wanda Jackson is on tap to headline this year’s festival Labor Day weekend in Cookeville, TN. The two-day camping festival features more than 30 bands from punk, grunge, roots blues, vintage rock and country roots.

This years lineup is dedicated to the late, great Charlie Louvin and includes performances by Wayne Hancock, Don Maddox of the Maddox Brothers and Rose and The Legendary Shack Shakers. Nashville locals Hillbilly Casino, The Spinderellas (Hula Hoop act), Derek Hoke, Hans Condor and The Dirt Scab Band are also scheduled to perform.

Rabid music fan Jason Galaz and his younger brother Anthony are giving their favorite bands a stage with a down-home feel.

“Really the biggest thing was to put all of my favorite bands together and to give them a home and a bigger stage,” said Jason.

The Galaz brothers say last year’s inaugural festival received praise from ‘patrons-both local, national and international-and bands alike.’ “For a lot of the bands, it seemed like a family reunion,” said Anthony. “They were camping together and the fans and the bands were together. There was no barricade, no barrier, no VIP sections backstage…there were no pedestals.”

The Muddy Roots Music Festival is September 3-4. Tickets are available online at a special advanced price of $55 and are $70 at the gate. Primitive camping is available. For more info visit muddyrootsmusic.com. It’s going to be fun yall!
