George Jones celebrates star-studded 80th birthday~

Grand Ole Opry star and Country Music Hall of Famer George Jones celebrated his 80th birthday Tuesday night. Festivities kicked off at Rippy’s on Broadway with several industry insiders, chicken wings and a possum cake. His wife Nancy, Travis Tritt, The McClymonts and The Kentucky Headhunters were among those that came out for the party.

From there Jones headed over to the Grand Ole Opry house, where he sat front row for the sold out show. Alan Jackson performed “He Stopped Loving Her Today” and together with Lee Ann Womack sang “Golden Ring.” Jamey Johnson performed “Whose Gonna Fill Their Shoes,” while The Oak Ridge Boys entertained with “Same Ole Me.”

At 80 years young, there is no slowing Jones down. He is still out touring and promoting his latest CD “A Collection of My Best Recollection,” which includes several of his classics like “Why Baby Why,” “White Lightning” and “He Stopped Loving Her Today.”

I caught up with the country star to see what his secret is. Stay tuned for our Yallwire interview!
