Keith Urban – performance, celebration “We Were Us”

Keith Urban celebrated his 16th #1, “We Were Us” with the songwriters of the hit. Keith, Nicole Galyon, Jon Nite & Jimmy Robbins performed a stripped down acoustic version for the crowd of music insiders at the Music City Tippler in Nashville and Yallwire was there. I take you to the event where Keith talks about Miranda being the perfect fit, how the song was always meant to be a duet and how it all came about.

Seen in the City!

Well if you haven’t tried Nashville’s latest hot spot for all hours of dining, The Southern Steak and Oyster you need to! It’s located in the bottom of the Pinnacle building downtown, there is complimentary valet parking and the food is deelish. Seems like the country stars are making their rounds there. Glen Campbell took some time off from his ‘‘Goodbye Tour,’’ Thursday to enjoy dinner there and Kix Brooks was also in for lunch Monday of this week. Taps & Tapas undergoes extreme burger makeover

541080_10150973094766214_625986213_12100711_1788414435_n The intimate dining spot in the heart of Hillsboro Village on Belcourt, Taps and Tapas is undergoing a makeover. Starting Friday, they drop the “Tapas” from the name and it will now be known as “Taps.” You can’t see a visual face lift just yet, but it’s around the corner.

The new spot will be known for its stuffed burgers. I’m not talking about just stuffed with cheese, but all sorts of spices and fresh ingredients. You really can’t go wrong with any of them, but my two favorites are the Sunday Brunch and Hell’s Kitchen (pictured). Warning you might need a fork to eat one, these suckers are thick and juicy!

The Sunday Brunch is stuffed with onions, Benton’s bacon and smoked gouda cheese then topped with an egg and a maple glaze. This thing is freaking delish. It’s a bit sweet, but has the perfect balance of savory flavors nd is topped with a pretzel bun. I bet this one is a perfect solution to cure a hangover.

The Hell’s Kitchen has a kick! Yes, of course it’s spicy hence the name. This burger is stuffed with jalapeño and habanera chilies, pepper jack and American cheeses and topped with homemade spicy mustard. The mustard has a hint of honey to it, which balances it out to the exact amount of spiciness that my taste buds can handle.

Another top contender is the Balboa. This meat is stuffed with mozzarella, fresh basil, Italian seasoning and topped with homemade marina.

On the side? The have a slew of fresh cut delicious fries to choose from like truffle, parmesan and my favorite the sweet potato (dusted with a secret seasoning that has a hint of nutmeg).

I’m anxious to see the spot make the transformation into a hip burger joint as it axes the Tapas, weeds out the songwriters and covers the walls with pictures of folks biting into juicy burgers. In the meantime, you should still go and try the new menu!

Keith Urban, Ashley Judd, Brooke Hogan & more seen in the city!

It’s been another exciting week in this little, big town known as Music City. Keith Urban has been a busy bee, but he’s not the only one out and about in Nashville this week.

Things kicked off Monday with soundcheck for We are All for the Hall. I got to chat with Keith & Vince Gill about the 3rd annual event. If you missed my story on WKRN you can see it by clicking here . After our chat I stood beside Charles Kelly of Lady A while Little Big Town sang with Keith & Vince on back up. It was an “only in Nashville” moment indeed.

From there I was off to talk to actress and activist Ashley Judd. Judd looked pretty pink and didn’t shy from reporter questions, despite being bashed earlier by media claiming that her face looked “puffy.” We caught up at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel where she was speaking at the Power of the Purse luncheon. Judd chatted with us about the possibility of another Missing series and how she would have some control over the future content. She also talked about how much she loves fighting in the series and how Yoga helps her with her mean moves. Oh and that her hubby race car drive Dario Franchitti thinks it’s hot!

Tuesday morning, Keith surprised his Monkeyville fan club members at the Country Music Hall of Fame with an acoustic performance. I caught up with some of the fans at the hall. You can watch that story by clicking here!

Tuesday night at the star studded We are All for the Hall benefit, the legendary Merle Haggard and Don Williams made surprise appearances to support the cause. Guests were also surprised when Vince Gill asked Keith to become an official Opry member on stage. You can see highlights of the show by clicking here!

Wednesday night, Bobby Pinson got nearly a dozen of his pals on board to play Lucy’s Country Cafe and raise money for wounded troops. Heidi Newfield, Rhett Akins, Pam Tillis and Jake Owen were among them. Chuck Wicks even made a surprise visit on stage. Stay tuned for my story and performance footage on Yallwire.

Wednesday Keith was at it again, this time celebrating his latest #1 song You Gonna Fly with songwriters Preston Brust, Chris Lucas and Jaren Johnston at Chappy’s on Church. His wife Nicole Kidman also came out for the bash and in true Keith form, he played the song for guests.

Thursday night Hulk Hogan‘s daughter and reality TV star Brooke Hogan was seen hanging with a music row insider. Could this mean there is a country album in the works for Brooke? Hmmmmm… I wouldn’t be surprised. The Hulk himself made an appearance at Direct insurance corporate office in Nashville Friday. Hulk is in town for the Lockdown at Municipal Auditorium Sunday.

Some lucky music fans got to enjoy privately taped shows this week with Kix Brooks and Keith Urban for some upcoming TV shows. Stay tuned!

Melrose Pub to change name, open new location~

Nashville’s popular pub, The Melrose is taking on the new name of M.L.Rose Craft Beer & Burgers. Owner Austin Ray says the change will allow the business to expand to other locations as well as help differentiate it from other area establishments, such as Melrose Billiards and the new 200,000 square foot development by Melrose Partners going in across the street. M.L.Rose Craft Beer & Burgers will open a second location at 4408 Charlotte Avenue this summer.

Ray released the following info vis pree release.
Based on the success of his first location, Ray announced the purchase of the 1920’s Lavender Motors building at 4408 Charlotte Avenue in January, without many details on his plans for the space. He is now revealing that the Charlotte location will be similar to its Franklin Road counterpart with a laid-back neighborhood vibe, plenty of televisions, a large patio space and the same delicious menu. The West Nashville location will seat approximately 175 patrons and will serve as the neighborhood hang out for those in Sylvan Park, Historic West Town and other surrounding neighborhoods.

To celebrate the name change, along with St. Patrick’s Day and March Madness, M.L.Rose will be hosting a celebratory party at its Melrose location on Saturday, March 17, featuring giveaways and festivities all day! Beginning at 10 a.m., M.L.Rose will have a tented patio with green beer and Guinness on tap, along with homemade Shepherd’s Pie and other special brunch items available.

Keith Urban and Richard Marx finally celebrated the success of their number one song, Long Hot Summer Tuesday night at Cabana in Nashville.

Keith and Richard shared that this song was extra special regarding a rekindling of their friendship. Marx expressed his love for both the song and Keith. He jokingly said, “Keith’s not a bad kiss, for a guy.”

Grand Ole Opry star and Country Music Hall of Famer George Jones celebrated his 80th birthday Tuesday night. His wife Nancy, Travis Tritt, The McClymonts and The Kentucky Headhunters were among those that came out for the party.

From there Jones headed over to the Grand Ole Opry house, where he sat front row for the sold out show.
