Flooded with flood relief fundraisers

Three great music benefits, one night, all within the same block. It’s an awesome problem to have as Music City continues to recover.

The 12th Annual Grammy Block Party was turned into a flood relief fundraiser Tuesday. The party took place at Owen Bradley Park on 16th Avenue South.

Recording Academy President CEO Neil Portnow was among the night’s guests.
“We want to help anybody who puts up their hands and says I need help,” Portnow said. “That’s the goal.”

Bluegrass duo Dailey and Vincent, contemporary Christian artist Plumb and , Darius Rucker, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue are just a few of the artists that had the crowd dancing.

The block party is usually an opportunity for the Nashville Chapter of Recording Academy members to unite and celebrate music. With the recent floods, this year’s event served as a fundraiser for the newly established MusiCares Nashville Flood Relief fund, helping local musicians in need.

Also on Tuesday night, famed producer David Z, Chad Warrix and the lovely Susan Branham (pictured) held a Red Carpet Celebrity Concert and Silent Auction at Red Rooster. Memebers of 7 Day Binge, 38 Special and 3 Doors Down performed. Chad Lauderdale had the crowd in awe we he took the stage for Amazing Grace. The silent auction included autographed items from Ke$ha, Hank Williams Jr., Ben Folds and Emmylou Harris among others.

A few doors down at Tin Roof, Kenny Chesney‘s No Shoes Radio (pictured) show held a benefit for the American Red Cross. Chris Janson and David Nail were among the nights performers. Kellie Pickler stopped by looking very cas to talk with the radio folks, but she didn’t perform. There was lots of buzz that Kenny Chesney would be there, but no sign for me.
